Hi Everyone

The days are getting shorter, the nights are growing longer, somewhere in Reading a bunch of trick or treaters will pick on the wrong house and they'll be the ones who get bombarded with eggs and flour.  And of course, we at the Rising Sun get to regale you with another selection of offerings on show this weekend

First of all, Friday, and for your delectation, we have CLUB VELOCITY

Another fine selection of beat combos for the enjoyment of us all courtesy of Velocity HQ and it looks just so:-

THE GO GO CULT
They remind us of great long lost bands like Man Or Astroman and the Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet.  Great DIY labels like Estrus and Get Hip.  Washington before Kurt.  Cheap beer and ribs.  Flipside and Maximum Rocknroll.  In a more decently ordered society, 2015 will be the year where more of those new-fangled pop kids are aware of The Go Go Cult

HORSE ROCK
Your fave surf (proper) garage band via Mexico via Bellingham,  Do.  No.  Mess. With.  Them.

BIG ZERO
These kids are th real.  Proper serious bubble gum pop!

We're open at 8pm.and it'll cost you £5 on the door or £4 in advance from www.wegottickets.co.uk

(Please note that this gig is for ages 18 and over)

On Saturday we bring you our HALLOWEEN SWING FANCY DRESS BALL

It's Halloween, there's swing music playing, you're in costume and the place is jumping; what else are you going to do but dance?  Come to our fancy dressed masked ball!  There will be dance classes before the music kicks in so you can learn a few new steps and meet one or two new foplks before they put their masks on.  The centre will be fully done out in true Halloween style and the amazingly wonderful Heather Jayne and The Red Shoes will be providing live music for us to dance to.

Classes start at 8pm, the ball begins at 9pm and entry is a paltry £10 at the door

Finally on Sunday, we're proud to be bringing you ATTILA THE STOCKBROKER

Attila started as a punk bass player in 1977.  SInce then he's done 2,800 gigs in 21 countries - at venues ranging from Glastonbury Festival (every year since 1983) to a hotel basement in Stalinist Albania.  He's released 6 books of poems and over 20 CDs/LPs.

His poetry and song writing covers a thrity plus year period encompassing the Flaklands War and the Miners Strike, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the war in Iraq and his tribute to his late mother who died in June after a 6 year battle with Alzheimer's.  Interspersed, as ever, are some silly and occasionally very rude bits about dead cats and dirty sleeping bags.

We're open at 7.30pm, it'll cost you £10 to get in on the night or £8 in advance via www.wegottickets,com

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
