Hi Everyone
It's mid-December already. The rain is getting colder and turkeys are trying to put on a brave face, strutting around the farmyard vainly telling themselves that Christmas is just a nasty rumour put around by the sheepdogs.
And inevitably., there's a seasonal feel to this weekend's proceedings at the Rising Sun
On Friday we bring you THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT
The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun. Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players, the possibilities are endless.
This month's festive Big Untidy is very pleased to present an evening of music curated by MY NORTHERN SKY (aka Christopher Ryman). He will be performing and will be joined by specially invited guests: the versatile and technical excellence of jazz band BARON MARA and the skilful jazz-inflected playing of KINGS IN THE CORNER
We're open at 7.30pm and it's a paltry £5 on the door to get in
On Saturday, we have a Festive edition of TRIBUTE NIGHT!
’Twas the Trib Night before Christmas... Join us for another Yuletide jamboree of Christmas-related ditties as we immerse ourselves indulgently in the festive spirit! A bunch of local musicians and Rising Sun regulars will treat you to a delicious spread of musical Christmas cheer and a right old knees-up it will be too, especially the bawdy end-of-night sing-a-long finale, which this year will be Happy Xmas (War Is Over).
The night is now fully subscribed, but do let me know if you would like to be involved in the finale as a singer or part of the band.
There is no admission fee as such, but donations will be collected during the interval, so please keep some money aside. Suggested donation £5. All donations go to the Rising Sun.
Doors open at 8pm for a prompt 8:30pm start
Also, don't forget to email TributeNight@hotmail.co.uk to join the mailing list and stay up to date with Trib doings.
(By the way, the polling stations are open til 10pm, so if you haven't yet voted, make sure you do)
That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
Have a nice weekend!
