Hi Everyone

Autumn has very much made itself at home this week, with an assortment of funny weather and annoying people on that new-fangled social media informing us all of how many days there are until Christmas.  At great length.  Every single bloody day.

However, here at the Rising Sun this weekend, we like to think we have plenty to take your mind away from such things..

On Friday we have none other than THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players…the possibilities are endless.

In this month's thrilling instalment, we bring you performances from folk artists who bring to life the history and stories of the UK.  Featuring the wonderful DAMIEN CLARKE, FIDDLEBOX, Morris Dancing with BERKSHIRE BEDLAM and a blend of music and story-telling with DOVER WAITS

We're open at 8pm and it'll cost you no more than £5 on the door

On Saturday, we have something sapecial in the form of ALAN CLAYSON and HENRY PADOVANI

Alan Clayson, sometimes leader of the legenedary Clayson and the Argonauts, performs solo too, delivering recitals that defy succinct description.  Join us for what Time Out calls a "curiously appealing evening of baroque and roll".  For further information, please investigate www.alanclayson.com

Henry Padovani, "The Intriguing Corsican" is a unique, international, cult star and has prepared a new solo show.  The ex-Police guitarist and French X Factor judge is a recipient of the French Medallion D'Or, was guitarist in Wayne County and the Electric Chairs and has even worked with Bono, Cher, Sting, Kim Wilde, Paul Young and countless others.  He is by no means your usual mature rock star!

On Sunday we bring you BOOKFACE

Browse stalls and share ideas at this once a year artists' book fair.  Handmade books, small press, experimetnal and altered books, illustrators, sculptures and exhibition pieces.  Poetry readings, story telling, workshops and more.  Relax in our cafe with homemade snacks and oprganic beers.  It's a wonderful day!

We're open from 11am to 5pm and it's absolutely FREE to get in

We'll be open at 8pm and tickets are still available for £9.50 (£7.50 concessions) at the door

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
