Hi Everyone
Unless you're a member of an Earth Wind and Fire tribute act, September's never. the greatest of months is it? All the festivals are over - the weather starts to take a turn for the worse - the kids go back to school – and worst of all, we have to wait until Christmas Day for the next bank holiday.
However, it's not all bad news! We've got a thing or two at the Rising Sun this weekend to temporarily banish those Autumnal blues...
On Friday we have a GREENPEACE FUNDRAISER!
Not only do you get to see FOUR bands in your favourite intimate venue, but you do so whilst contributing to a very worthy cause. With the Amazon on fire, the ice caps melting and the oceans filling with plastic, the work of Greenpeace has never been more vital. So come along, have a great night out, enjoy the bands and bask in the warm glow of knowing that the donation you’ve made is helping to keep the planet habitable
We have for your delectation THE MIRROR PICTURES, ALL ABOUT FRANK, LEAD SHOT HAZARD and TAPE IT SHUT
We'll be open at 8pm and it's absolutely FREE! (However, we suggest you keep something aside for a donation)
Saturday morning brings another BOOKFACE BOOKCLUB
An informal artists book group. Ideal for sharing your latest book finds and creations sometimes includes art and craft activities for bookmaking
We're open from 10am-12noon and it's only £4
Saturday evening sees THE SCARLET VIXENS present DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES
The Scarlet Vixens are back at their original home, the Rising Sun Arts Centre, with a show not to be missed!
Line up -
DEMONICA LATEX
HOLLY MAY KING
LADY INTREPID
Miss OOPSIE OOOOHH
TOOTSIE ROCQUES
LAYLA CHERRY
Lady LISETTE RUBY
Your host -
MARIPOSA BOP
The doors shall be flung asunder at 8pm. Tickets are £8 in advance via Skiddle.com and £12 on the door. VIP package is £17 and includes a glass of fizz on arrival and a guaranteed front-row seat with table and nibbles. What are you waiting for? These shows sell out fast so be sure to get your tickets before it's too late!
That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
Have a nice weekend!
Hi Everyone
The clocks have gone back - an extra hour in bed in the morning is always welcome but the evenings are dark and cold. What better way to lift your spirits on these long Autumnal nights than down at the Rising Sun.
