This summer, we recall a time when ‘alternative music’ was unintentionally thrust into the mainstream by the fiery, melodic sonic rush of Nirvana.
Nirvana wrestled with their stardom, simultaneously chasing and eschewing popularity, producing music that was at once abrasive and laden with irresistible pop hooks, and creating their own multi-platinum anti-rock star paradox that proved ultimately self-destructive, leaving behind one of the most influential legacies in rock’n’roll history.
Nirvana Tribute Night will feature several local musicians performing a broad selection of classic, signature Nirvana songs alongside some lesser known gems.
Admission is free, but keep at least a fiver aside in that tiny pocket-within-a-pocket in your jeans to donate when a friendly looking person thrusts a cash-hungry hat towards you during the interval.
Doors open at 8pm for a prompt 8:30pm start.
