We had a grand time at the inaugural Reading Volunteer Awards, taking home two awards – one for the team, and one for a very special volunteer.
Organised by Reading Voluntary Action, the first annual Reading Volunteer Awards were created to recognise all the great work done by volunteers in Reading. The ceremony was held as part of National Volunteers Week on the evening of 6th June, and a fine party of volunteers from the centre were in attendance.
Not only that – we took home two awards. The centre won a team award, and – perhaps more importantly – Peter Claridge won a long service award for his work in the stock room. Perhaps the only award that could outweigh his "musical chairs" victory at our 25th birthday party last year!
It really was wonderful event with an even more wonderful sentiment behind it, highlighting just how many dedicated people give their time to make Reading such a wonderful place. It was an honour just to be nominated.
