We're a Cultural Award Finalist!

We’re very pleased, honoured and humbled to announce that last year’s Here Comes The Sun Festival is a finalist for “Festival of the Year” at the 2019 Reading Cultural Awards.

The Reading Cultural Awards celebrate the best of Reading’s arts, culture and heritage. They recognise the fantastic artists, organisations and events that have made Reading such a great place to live, work and do business over the past 12 months.

We’re up against some stiff competition in this category, with Readipop Festival and Open For Art also vying for this year’s trophy. Truly, it’s an honour just to be nominated, and considering Here Comes The Sun is curated and coordinated by a team of volunteers using up weekends, evenings, lunch hours and annual leave days to make the festival what it is, it makes this nomination even more gratifying.

Of course, it won’t be our first time at the awards - we’ve been nominated for Cultural Space and Cultural Organisation of the year in previous years, and last year came home with two awards - Zap! Magazine won for Partnership of the Year for Zap! Magazine (in conjunction with our partners at Real Time Video, Our Time Video, Spectrum Arts, The Step Up Project and our very own Neile Wright) and the judge’s choice for Outstanding Contribution To Culture.

The glitzy Reading Culture Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton Reading on 24th June 2019. We’ll be there in our finery once more. Fingers crossed!

As for this year’s Here Comes The Sun festival? It takes place on Saturday 17th August and advance tickets are on sale now! We’ve already announced the first names for this year’s line-up, and the next announcement will be coming VERY shortly - watch this space!
