Hi Everyone

The Spice Girls reunion tour has hit Rising Sun HQ with a bang!  Well, actually it hasn't but that weekly update deadline is looming and I thought it might help to share some facts about the Thinking Man's All Saints..

First of all, The Spice Girls will sing for an hour, during which they promise to perform all their Greatest Hits.  They are open to ideas for the remaining 45 minutes.  (Victoria pulled out when her proposed Smiths medley was shelved.  Her husband, David Beckham, is rumoured to prefer The Housemartins)

And with a little bit of zigazig-ah,  there's a few things to tell you about happening here this weekend!

On Friday we bring you THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players, the possibilities are endless

And this time around, the powers that be at Untidy HQ are pleased to be featuring the modern psychedelia of HEAD DROP with the 60's tinged pop/psych of THE ADY BAKER SOUND and, completing the bill.....the garage post punk of KILL COMMITTEE.

We're open at 7.30pm and it'll only cost you a paltry £5 on the door

Some people have wondered what the Spice Girls have been up to since their previous reunion a decade ago.  Geri (Ginger Spice) returned to being a doctor's receptionist in Rickmansworth while Mel C (Sporty Spice) resumed her job as a tree surgeon.  Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) opened two fully licensed hairdressers in the Reading area, Mel B concentrated on her construction business.  Meanwhile, Victoria carved out a new niche as a continuity announcer on the BBC World Service

On Saturday daytime, we pay host to another YELLOW TEAPOT CAFE

The Yellow Teapot Cafe might do everything a cafe might do. You can buy tea, coffee and soft drinks, biscuit and cake. But we are an event, a haven for those who like to relax, look at books, be creative and drink tea.

We're open from 1pm to 3pm and it'll cost you nothing to come in!

Between them.  The Spice Girls have eight children:  Jeroboam (15), Bronx (14), Ravioli (12), Salamander (10), Harpic (eight), Porsche (seven), Beavis (six), MacBeth (five) and Iolanthe (four).  MacBeth's ambition is to pursue a career in reality TV, while the others, reportedly,  hope to work in insurance.

Finally on Saturday evening, something different in the shape of LIVE: AN EVENING OF POETRY

As part of Love, Live, Dream: a short festival of togetherness.

Join us for an evening of poetry from 7pm.

Poets include: John Hoggett, Haider Bokhari, Open Mind Group,The Urban Poetry Ensemble and Kavi Darbar poetry Group from the Indian Community Centre.

We're open at 7pm and it's absolutely FREE!

With funding from 'Building a Stronger Britain Together.'

While we remember, news has just reached us that official sponsors for the 2019 Spice Girls Tour include Stannah Stairlifts and Ovaltine Light

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
