Hi Everyone
The first week of January. The first sound of that "exciting new band" that you'll completely forget about in a month's time, the New Year's Resolutions that are now broken and some smug, annoying individual who spends half their day crowing "New Year, New Me!" (Yes Gary! I'm talking about you. Stop it!)
However, it's not all gloom, doom and five minutes from an average episode of EastEnders, we just happen to have the first weekend at the Rising Sun of 2016
On Saturday we bring you the first CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY of the year
Classical For Charity is a series of classical and jazz concerts at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, performed by local musicians and hosted by local pianist and piano teacher Maija Tuomi-Nikula.
Come and support us by enjoying top-quality, rarely heard music in a great, relaxed atmosphere without having to pay enormous ticket prices!
Classical For Charity will start its third year with something decidedly delightful and not often heard; four-handed piano music delivered to you by your usual hostess Maija Tuomi-Nikula (myself) and guest performer Carole Sevestre, who will also play a duet with her daughter Lilla. We will bring you some of the four-handed works of Brahms, such as several of the famous "Hungarian Dances", as well as works from Satie and Rachmaninov.
Needless to say that we are very excited of this opportunity to play these wonderful pieces and see what magic the Rising Sun Arts Centre baby grand piano will create when played with four hands on the keys instead of the usual two!
Doors at 12.30, tickets £3. Refreshments and a wheelchair access available - all ages welcome.
(By the way, if you wish to bring your dog, please kindly sit at the very back as your hostess is severely allergic to animals. Many thanks for your consideration!)
That's everything for another weekend, just to remind you first of all, that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear)
