This Weekend's Events (6th to 8th March)

Hi Everyone

With people all over Reading being flummoxed by the appearance, of a large shiny thing in the sky instead of the regular backing track of rain, hail (and sometimes, if we're lucky, a touch of sleet), I think it's time for I, your humble narrator, to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun thius weekend!

On Friday we bring you MADCAP MOONSOUP

Madcap Moonsoup is a new regular night at the Rising Sun (every 3 months). An evening of surreal/stand-up comedy/mime and music brought to you from the good people of Reading and Basingstoke.

We're open at 7.30pm and it'll cost you a much-too-cheap £2 on the door to get in

On Saturday lunchtime we bring you CLASSICAL FOR CHARITY

Classical For Charity is a series of classical and jazz concerts at The Rising Sun Arts Centre, performed by local musicians and hosted by local pianist and piano teacher Maija Tuomi-Nikula.

Come and support us by enjoying top-quality, rarely heard music in a great, relaxed atmosphere without having to pay enormous ticket prices!

Maija is pleased to announce this special edition of Classical For Charity will be a concert of piano music; and what makes it special is that the performers are my piano students! I also will perform a piece or two towards the end of the concert, and maybe join in with a "Teacher's Part" to some of the songs.

At the moment six of my students have decided to play in this concert, and I'm hoping that more will join. The age of my students vary from 5 to 13 and the learning stages are between complete beginner to Grade 2 at this point. We will have a selection of music from children's songs to computer game music - all classically arranged.

The charity to be supported will be decided closer to the event - any suggestions are welcome!

Also, this concert will be the first anniversary of Classical For Charity. It's already been a year, you know! So please come along, sit back and enjoy the music, and enjoy the good feeling that comes from giving support to a good cause!

And since the performers will mainly be children, there will be colouring pens and paper for child audience (and why not adults as well!), so any kind of boredom for little ones can be diverted towards a creative activity

We're open at 12.30pm for a 1pm start Tickets cost £3 as usual, and of course, there are some lovely refreshments available at the bar.

On Saturday evening it's time for THE READING KABARET KOLLECTIVE

Featuring MC and chanteuse Baroness Maria von Hackemann (from Alternative Queen of Reading and Here Comes the Sun festival), the talented dancing RING A DING DINGS (also Here Comes the Sun and AQR 2014), special guests, and cabaret virgins! Come to the cabaret and enjoy a night of live eclectic 'klein kunst' in this first of a series of shows every other month.

We'll be flinging our doors open at 8pm and it'll cost you £10 (£8 concs) to get in

That's everything for another week.  Just to remind you that barring bizarre unexplained phenemona, that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, Berkshire, Great Britain, Europe, Northern Hemisphere, Planet Earth. The Solar System, Milky Way, Near Andromeda, The Universe, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your google or satnav we shall magically appear)
