This Weekend's Events (27th February to 1st March)

Hi Everyone

March and February happen to collide in the next couple of days, this means a backing track of rain water hitting tarmac or windows or people thinking they won't get soaked by doing a bad impression of Linford Christie as they try and catch the bus.  In the evenings, this is interspersed with people paying attention to a certain minority sport at unsocial hours as people end up waking up in the middle of the night to catch their neighbours listening on the wireless as a bunch of while a bunch of people who wish they were Old Etonians discuss the fruitcake that was couriered in and somebody else in a broad Yorkshire accent says it was rubbish and he could've baked a better one himself.

(At least that's what it sounds like to I, your humble narrator.  There's always a chance I was still asleep at the time and it's just some surreal dream....)

Enough of such talk, we have the following to delight and enthrall you with at the Rising Sun this weekend!

On Friday we have CLUB VELOCITY

Another fine selection of beat combos for the delectation of us all courtesy of Velocity HQ:-

GO GO CULT
In a decently ordered society then 2015 will be a year where more of you pop kidsthe people of Britain our ears they remind us of great long lost bands like Man Or Astroman and the Shadowy Men On A Shadowy Planet.  Great DIY labels like Estrus and Get Hip.  Washington before Kurt.  Cheap beer and ribs.  Flipside and Maximum Rocknroll.  John Peel would have got the Go Go Cult and so should you.

THE FRANKLYS
The Franklys are BACK!!!!  Their debut gig at the Rising Sun was nothing short of legendary. Arguably the tightest-most fierce band to play said venue for many a year. Full on-get out the way hippy. Phenomenal live band. Proper rocknrollpunk POP! With a huge side order of songs.

Championed by Artrocker, Fred Perry and Clash.  In an ideal world they would be H-U-G-E. Sadly these days the masses are a bit stupid and are walking around like soulless robots.

CALUM FOAD
Wonderful.Quirky.Rock pop guitar brilliance. Debut Club Velocity gig and debut appearance at the Rising Sun. Welcome him, people.

We're open at 8pm, and it'll cost you £5 on the door or £4.40 in advance from www.wegottickets.co.uk.

On Saturday it's time for FIESTA LATINA

A fun and sociable dance night featuring a mix of Latin dances from tango to meringue, salsa to bachata and all the stops in between (La Rueda is a speciality). Very friendly evening in somewhere that could have been lifted straight out of Cuba. Come and enjoy some hot Latin rhythms.

We'll be open at 9pm and it'll cost you a paltry £6 on the door to get in

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
