Hi Everyone

The days are getting shorter, the nights are growing longer, somewhere in Reading a bunch of trick or treaters will pick on the wrong house and they'll discover that the treats they were given are actually chocolate covered sprouts.  And of course, we at the Rising Sun get to regale you with another selection of offerings on show this weekend.  And as we have an extra long line-up, we're telling you a little bit earlier than usual!  A day earlier....

On Thursday we have something special from MARTIN ALVARADO

Widely considered to be Argentina's most significant contemporary Tango singer and is increasingly being seen as one of the dinest vocalists in Tango's history.  Martin Alvarado has been described as the voice of Tango in the 21st century.  His repertoire includes many of the great Argentinian composers as well as rare pieces from Piazola and more contemporary

compositions

We're open at 8.30pm and it'll cost you £10 on the door

On Friday, we bring you CLUB VELOCITY

Another fine selection of live music for the enjoyment of us all courtesy of Velocity HQ and it looks just so:-

DRAW THE SHADES
Draw The Shades are a 4 piece rock band from Reading, UK. Distorted riffs, heavy anthems and soaring vocals make this band stand out from the crowd. The diversity of this band brings together an exciting mix of alternative sounds that entices their audiences.

Reading Elvis says "they are the new Area 52"

SAHARA DAM
Our fave new band featuring two sisters.  And their song 'Ape' just happens to be our fave 'rawk' song of the year.  Seriously tasty band alert.  Perfect for fans of Wolf Alice/Sonic Youth/PJ Harvey/Kate Bush/Breeders.  Their potential is HUGE!

THE CLEVER HANS
The Clever Hans play a blend of guitar-based music in the genres of Post-Rock, Goth, Indie, Dream Pop, Shoegaze and more.  Their debut album out now.

We're open at 8pm, and it'll cost you £5 on the door or you can still pay £4 in advance from www.wegottickets.co.uk.

On Saturday afternoon we bring you another helping of VINYL CLUB

Vinyl Club, I hear you ask?  Well, it's a great opportunity to listen to a record undisturbed and the chance to discover new music!  Come and relax at Vinyl Club, as we peacefully and silently listen to two records back-to-back in their fully intended glory

Each month somebody brings along two records to listen to, followed by a short discussion.  Anyone can join in, and the bar will be open for you to grab a tea, coffee, or beer to better help you relax with the music.

If you'd like to bring along some records for a future Vinyl Club then drop a line to Guy Siviour at info@risingsun-artscentre.co.uk

We're open from 1pm to 3pm, and it's absolutely FREE!

Saturday evening sees the FIESTA LATINA HALLOWEEN SPECIAL

Celebrate in Halloween in the spooky Rising Sun!  If you've been to a Halloween dance event here before you'll know how well we transform the centre into a creepy, autumnal, gold and silver haunted mansion.  At this special Fiesta we'll be branching out and include a bit of Swing, Tango and Salsa.  Free La Rueda class at 8pm, followed by Salsa at 9pm, Swing at 10pm, Tango at 10.45pm and rounding off with a few more Salsa tracks.  Don't forget to choose a costume!

We'll be open at 8pm and admission is just £6 on the door!

Sunday sees our HALLOWEEN CINETHON

Join us for an afternoon of classic spooky cinema!  Featuring three great feature length films alongside silent cinema shorts, a haunting quiz, lots of popcorn and a prize for the best costume.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (Ed Wood, 1959 - PG)
The Little Shop of Horrors (Frank Oz, 1986 - PG)
Night of the Living Dead (George A. Romero, 1968 - 15)

We're open from 2pm to 8pm and it'll cost you a measly £5

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
