Hi Everyone

The days are getting shorter, the nights are growing longer, somewhere in this very locale a bunch of trick or treaters will pick on the wrong house and discover that the treats they were given were chocolate covered sprouts (or even worse, an Eagles album). And of course, we at the Rising Sun get to regale you with another selection of offerings on show this very weekend!

On Friday, we bring you CLUB VELOCITY

Another fine selection of live music for the enjoyment of all courtesy of Velocity HQ and it looks just so.

PINK DIAMOND REVUE
Truly great.  Punk n beats.  Roll n Rock.  Genius.

(So it says here)

HERE ARE THE YOUNG MEN & UNCLE PEANUT
Local punks-who roll and rock and roll a bit more.  More punk than your dad.

VOODOO RADIO
Are a two piece rocknpunk outfit, with an abrasive edge.

We'll be open at 8pm.  And it'll cost you £8 on the door to get in or £5 in advance from www.wegottickets.com

Saturday sees something different in the shape of LIVE LOVE DREAM

A one day exhibition of visual and carnival arts featuring work by Ahmad Alazami and Herman Philbert.

Herman Philbert works as a Carnival Arts in Reading teaching constument making and the history of Carnival. He works with Trinibago Carnival Band, one of the first groups to display costumes at Notting Hill Carnival in 1973.

Ahmad Alazami is a Syrian artists born and raised in Damascus. He is a graduate of the Fine Arts University of Damascus and currently lives in Reading.

Ahmad's work incorporates nails, string, inked Arabic calligraphy, lighting and utilises discarded wood as a symbol of the remains in Syria.

Funded by Building a Stronger Britain Together with thanks to Reading City of Sanctuary and Real Time Video.

This event is part of Reading International Festival.

We're open from 1pm and it's absolutely FREE!

Finally, Sunday sees another OPEN PAGE/OPEN STAGE

A monthly collaborative event for writers, artists, musicians, and everyone in between! The premise is an extension of the traditional ‘open mic’, however the focus is on words and collaboration. We want people to come and showcase their art in a safe and comfortable environment. If you’re an artist, bring your work early on so we can hang it around. If you write – poetry, prose, songs, plays – bring a piece or an excerpt. Actors – come and practice for auditions! If you play an instrument, bring it along! Think of the evening as a cross-creative spectrum jam night.

We’re open at 7pm and it’s absolutely FREE!

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
