Following on from our recent award from the Queen, we at the Rising Sun feel it's only fair we return the compliment. In fact, I have to say that it's marvellous that she keeps being voted back in as monarch, year in, year out. and at such a grand age too. She must surely hold some kind of recrd by now. Well done Ma'am, you're a testament to our sensible and sucessful democratic system. May you have a long retirement when you finally decide to hang up your sparkly hat!

On Saturday afternoon we bring you another instalment of VINYL CLUB
An opportunity to listen to a record undisturbed and the chance to discover new music! Come and relax at Vinyl Club, as we peacefully and silently listen to two records back-to-back in their fully intended glory
Each month somebody brings along two records to listen to, followed by a short discussion. Anyone can join in, and the bar will be open for you to grab a tea, coffee, or beer to better help you relax with the music.

'An old woman and a mixed race teenager must learn to co-exist...and it's not going to be pretty...' come and join Becci Fearnley for cake and storytelling in this spoken word poetry play following the story of a mixed race teenager struggling to solidify her identity against the xenophobia of the frightened old lady next door. Stay for the hour-long workshop after the show to contribute your own poetry and writing about identity.

Saturday evening brings FIESTA LATINA!
A fun and sociable dance night featuring a mix of Latin dances from tango to meringue, salsa to bachata and all the stops in between (La Rueda is a speciality). Very friendly evening in somewhere that could have been lifted straight out of Cuba. Come and enjoy some hot Latin rhythms.

On Sunday morning, we bring you SUNDAY ASSEMBLY
Sunday Assembly Reading is a community group that meets on the last Sunday of each month at the Rising Sun to hear great talks, sing songs, eat cake and celebrate life… it’s a part atheist church, part foot-stomping show. Each event has a theme with stories, readings and a final address on that topic. No matter what the subject, the goal of The Sunday Assembly is to solace worries, provoke kindness and inject a bit more whizziness into the everyday. And the best part.... IT’S FREE.
We're open from 11am to 12pm, and everybody's welcome!
Sunday evening sees ICARUS III
From the curators of The Fall of Icarus and Icarus II comes the third instalment of these exciting contemporary arts shows. Featuring films, painting and performance from local Reading artists
