Hi Everyone

You know, dear reader, I did have a little pre-amble planned for this evening's little missive from us to you, however, life has rather got in the way.

However, regardless of whether or not a narrator's pre-amble appeals to you, or even if it does, we still have somethihng special for you at the Rising Sun this weekend!

On Friday, we bring you STAND-UP CINEMA

Screenings of the best locally made film and video plus rarely seen classics, obscure documentaries, cult independents and overlooked modern gems. Stand-Up Cinema is a collaboration between The Rising Sun Arts Centre and Real Time Video. To get your film shown at a future Stand-Up Cinema contact Real Time at info@real-time.org.uk.

This month's main feature is MON ONCLE (Jacques Tati, 19580)

Featuring Tati's familiar character Monsieur Hulot and his quixotic struggle with post-war France's infatuation with modern architecture, mechanical efficiency and consumerism, Mon Oncle won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

It'll cost you a paltry £4 on the door.  Short Films start at 7.30. Raging Bull starts showing at 8.00 pm.

On Saturday, it's time for BANDORAMA

The third saturday of the month?  The third saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.  Not only can you expect free cake (If only to annoy Malcolm he does not do cake) and balloons (Malcolm reallly hates balloons.  Apparrently, balloons aren't punk), but also a big helping of musical entertainment which just happens to look like this...

LAUNCH CONTROL
Delightful UK pop punk, with tunes.Fat Mike loves them.Milo from the Desecendents is a fan.Travis Blink 182 has a LC tatoo.

For fans of MXPX/NOFX/Blink182/The Vandals et al

MARIAH PARIAH
Three brothers.  Like the Osmonds or Bros with a extra member.  They remindus of the mighty champs from Bury St Edmund's-that being Jacobs Mouse.  John Peel would have liked these brothers.

NOT FIT FOR HUMANS
From THAT Slough.  Real punks.  Like the Pixies on speed.

THE VANITY PROJEKT
Living local (gig going) legend.  More punk than your dad.  He was once in a band with Al Murray, dont you know!

You might be interested to know this is an all ages gig.  Everybody's welcome!

We'll be open at 8pm.  And it'll cost you £5 on the door to get in (£4 in advance from www.wegottickets.com).

Finally on Sunday, we have MILONGA SIMPATICA

A small, friendly afternoon milonga aimed at giving people a chance to dance tango in a relaxed and stress-free environment. Good company, tea and cakes are provided.  A nice way to wind down the weekend!

We'll be open from 4.30pm-8pm  And it'll cost you a paltry £6. Join us.

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
