Hi Everyone

I do hope you're enjoying this somewhat unseasonal weather and not sweltering too much.  Excuse me a moment, I just need a cold shower (again)

Right, where was I?  Anyhow as the icicles that formed from the cold shower start to vapourise and turn into steam, it's time to let you know what have for you at the Rising Sun this weekend.

On Friday, we have something special from STAND UP CINEMA

As part of the Reading Fringe Festival, Stand Up Cinema presents three films about Jacksons Corner, looking at the history of the oldest department store in Reading, which closed its doors for good on the 24th December 2013.

Jacksons was a much-loved institution in Reading and film-maker Lea Winchcombe made these three short films to commemorate its demise. 'Jacksons 1875-2013', 'Gatherings and Memories' and 'Walking in the Footsteps of the Past' will be shown along with discussion and talks from Historian Thomas Macey and those involved in making the film.

We'll be open at 8pm and it's absolutely FREE to get in.

On Saturday, it's time for BANDORAMA

Anyone who knows Bandorama, will know that it wouldn't be Bandorama without Kevin the barman, and this month is his birthday.  Not only will there be free cake and shixxle in abundance buit also the following dazzling assortment of aural/visual delights

This month's Milonga features live tango music from Reading's own tango band Tango Select, who will be playing a selection of very danceable tangos and vals, some well known, some less so.

A chance for Tanguero’s in Reading to dance at one of the inaugural tango venues in the town. We've been hosting relaxed and friendly tango evenings for over 10 years and the return of Tango Select to our milonga is a welcome treat!

By the way, this event is part of Reading Fringe Festival 2014 – check out the fringe here http://readingfringefestival.co.uk/
