This Weekend's Events (15th to 17th November)

Hi Everyone

This week's communique begins with the heart-rending news that John Lewis has unveiled their new advert.

I rather like Christmas.. but I can't remember any time when it started in bloody November!  And they probably won't have what my nephew wants this Christmas either...

Oh well, in somewhat more exciting news, it's time to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun this weekend.

On Friday, we pay host to CLAYSON AND THE ARGONAUTS

Some people will tell you the legendary Alan Clayson and The Argonauts were and are the greatest group ever formed – not least for a stage act that still defies succinct description four decades after they were thrust swiftly to 'a premier position on rock's Lunatic Fringe' (Melody Maker).

Moreover, the latest album, This Cannot Go On… - and new single, ‘Sol Nova’ - might stand as an artistic apotheosis were it not for the promise of surprises yet to come – and correlated press coverage contained the telling sentence, ‘Somewhere there is a parallel universe where they are bigger than The Beatles!’

See www.alanclayson.com for further information.

Plus support from INCIDENTAL

We'll be open at 8pm and it'll cost you £7.50 on the door

On Saturday, CLUB VELOCITY PRESENTS

The third Saturday of the month?  The third Saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.

And this month, it looks a little like this...

HIPBONE SLIM ONE MAN BAND
Primitive Blues & Rhythm Stomp from Sir Bald Diddley aka Hipbone Slim! He sings whilst strumming guitar, blowing harp and banging drums and things with his feet!

One man singing and playing guitar, harmonica, foot drums and percussion in primitive stomping blues, rhythm, rockabilly & garage kind of style!

THE GO GO CULT
World Class Billy Punks

THIS
New Punks On The Reading Block.  For fans of Sarah Records/Vaselines/The Velvets/The Raincoats/early Creation records

We're open at 8pm, and tickets are £7 in advance on www.wegottickets.com or £10 on the night

(TANGO SELECT is taking a little rest until New Year..)

That's everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
