Hi Everyone

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Valentine's Day is consumerist nonsense
Now haven't you got something better to do?

You heard it here first people, (although let's face it, it's quite likely you didn't) so chuck those flowers in the bin, stick that card in the recycling and keep them chocolates for yourself, cos whatever your relationship status might be, there's still something at the Rising Sun this weekend

On Saturday, CLUB VELOCITY Presents IN MALCOLM WE TRUST!

The third Saturday of the month?  The third Saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town.

This time around, the powers that be at Velocity HQ brung us an annual musical event to celebrate the birthday of the one and only Malcolm Unwin. A delightful night of the the thing that we call PunkRock.....

Now in its ninth year.

HERE ARE THE YOUNG MEN AND UNCLE PEANUT
Here are the Young Men’ and ‘Uncle Peanut’ are not a couple that socialise on a regular basis. They just make music together, swap ideas and make them a reality.

Since releasing their well-received debut album in 2015 entitled ‘GIMME! GIMME! GIMME! PEANUT PUNK’, they’ve played shows with the likes of Wire, Sleaford Mods, Electric Six and Evil Blizzard. They also put on the odd show in the back of a van, described as providing audience members with an ‘unsettling sense of fear and intimidation’.

Their new album ‘THIS IS THE STANDARD LIFE’ features collaborations with Art Brut’s Eddie Argos and Bille Ray Martin (S’Express, Electribe 101) and was released as a digital download through Musical Bear Records in October 2017.

"Here are the Young Men & Uncle Peanut are going to be everyone’s new favourite band. Possibly."
Louder Than War

RUMPO KIDZ
Local 'super' group-who deal in mighty fine great covers in their own way.  More punk than your dad.

NEW PURITANS
Featuring the birthday boy and other assorted members of the Family Unwin, they say they are a New Wave band.  The spirit of 1976 is living on.  It is like punk never happened

We'll be open at 8pm.  And it'll cost you £7 on the door to get in (£5 in advance from www.wegottickets.com).

That's everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
