Hi Everyone

Christmas is lurking in the wings. As I speak. cuddly Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is wondering how long before he needs to update his CV, the Queen is looking through her speech one last time and wondering she should call her eldest son's bluff and make him do the speech instead.  East 17 have used the download royalties to pay off their credit cards (and maybe, just maybe take care of the gas bill), Noddy Holder has booked next year's holiday and turkeys all over Britain are listening to a non-stop selection of Leonard Cohen and Morrissey whilst hoping that it's all just a nasty rumour put around by the sheepdogs.

On Friday, BIG UNTIDY presents:  STRANGE CHRISTMAS

And this month, Untidy HQ's now traditional Christmas special is back with us once more... this year featuring the political songsmith and modern day troubadour GRANT SHARKEY, the 80s tinged indie pop of HEAD OF STEAM, cool jazz from BARON MARE and the emotional balladeer MY NORTHERN SKY.

We're open from 7.30pm and it'll only cost you a paltry £5 at the door

On Saturday, it's time for the TRIBUTE NIGHT CHRISTMAS SPECIAL

’Twas the Trib Night before Christmas... Join us for another Yuletide jamboree of Christmas-related ditties as we immerse ourselves indulgently in festive spirit! A bunch of local musicians and Rising Sun regulars will treat you to a delicious spread of musical Christmas cheer and a right old knees-up it will be too.

A bunch of local(ish) musicians and Rising Sun regulars will treat you to a delicious spread of Christmas songs and Christmas Number Ones and a right old knees up it will be too. Yes, it's basically a Christmas concert wrapped up to look like a Tribute Night, the way you might wrap up a Wham! LP to look like an ashtray.

We'll be open at 8pm for a prompt 8.30 start, and as usual, there will be no charge on the door, but  we suggest you keep £5 or more aside in that tiny pocket-within-a-pocket in your jeans to donate when a friendly looking person thrusts a cash-hungry hat towards you during the interval.

And finally on  New Year's Eve, we bring the season and the year to a close with the CLUB VELOCITY NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY

Why would you want to spend New Year's Eve anywhere else?  Not only will there be a free buffet (first come, first served) but also the following fine musical accompaniment

DOLLY AND THE CLOTHES PEGS
Living local legends are back at their spirtual home that is the Rising Sun Arts Centre. They describe themselves as a Riverbilly band.  They are a great band, that deal in super Kennet Delta Bluegrass Country Rocknroll.

The perfect good time band to bring in the new year

DAMIEN A PASSMORE
Your fave (very) tall cow punk country troubadour sings songs from the heart and from other places about whiskey, roadkill and of course Hillbillies.

PAULA CURTIS
Front singer of the well known Rumpo Kidz in a rareish solo gig.  It will be great.

We're open at 8pm, and it'll cost you £11 on the door or £9 in advance from www.wegottickets.co.uk

That's everything for another weekend and also for 2018, just to remind you first of all, that you can find us at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST  (If you put us in your Google or Sat Nav, we shall magically appear)

Also, there's just to time to say...

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM EVERYBODY AT THE RISING SUN!!

See you all next month!
