Hi Everyone

Easter weekend arrives at Rising Sun HQ.  The sun is out, the sky is blue.  There's even some clouds for all those people who aren't that keen on sunny weather and I've even heard rumours of a cyclist who stopped at a red light…

And with so much going on, and the town being all abuzz with something that makes the townspeople make some sort of collective buzzing noise it’s time to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun this very weekend...

On Friday, we bring you THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT

The Big Untidy Night Out specialises in bringing new unusual talent into the Rising Sun.  Singers, songwriters, poets, punk outfits, ambient experimentalists, sensational cellists and demonic banjo-players, the possibilities are endless.

This time around,BLOOD QUARTET arrive at the Big Untidy to present their first LP "Deep Red"

Blood Quartet, feature Mark Cunningham (former member of the pioneer ‘70s No Wave group Mars and serial collaborator with Lydia Lunch, Arto Lindsay, Pierre Bastien, Pascal Comelade...) and the members of underground avant-rock band Murnau b (Barcelona, Spain),and came together in early 2015 in Barcelona.

"Blood Quartet plays insanely great avant garde rock music. Angular no wave guitar lines weave through bass-heavy rhythms, and Mark Cunningham's trumpet achieves something akin to what Chet Baker might have done if he’d flipped out and gotten into the French acid scene in ’68. Light, strangely wound tones that really don’t sound like anyone else I can name. The music on Deep Red starts off sounding subtle, but it grows in power with every spin, and will eventually suck you down into its magnificent vortex". -Byron Coley

Also appearing will be the superb hard-rocking young bucks THUNDER ON THE LEFT.. They will be joined on the bill by muscular local old-skool punks ORDER#227.

We're open at 8pm and it'll cost you a paltry £8 on the door to get in

On Saturday, it’s time for BANDORAMA

The third saturday of the month?  The third saturday of the month at a certain venue in Reading? Surely that means another helping of one of the best band nights in town and here's how it looks this time round

CITY SCAFFOLD

Played here on New Years Eve.  Made a lot of friends.  Many a seasoned gig goer gave these kids a big thumbs up.They deal in rock, with a deep groove.  Ace!

EXCEPT ON TUESDAYS

Heartfelt anti beardy folkpunk tunes.  For fans of Frank Turner or Ben Marwood.

BEFORE THE BREAKDOWN

Very new teen ROCK band.  They are the real deal.

We'll be open at 8pm and it'll cost you £5 on the door or £4 in advance from www.wegottickets.com

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)

Have a nice weekend!
