Hi Everyone

With people all over Reading being flummoxed by the appearance, of a large shiny thing in the sky instead of the regular backing track of rain, hail (and sometimes, if we're lucky, a touch of sleet), I think it's time for O, your humble narrator, to let you know what's happening at the Rising Sun thius weekend!

On Friday, THE BIG UNTIDY NIGHT OUT brings you a STORYTELLING SPECIAL

A mix of music and curious tales featuring the exceptional and death-defying NATHANIEL ROBIN MANN, pagan rockers SPRIGGAN MIST, UGLY DOG POETRY and, from Northampton, the legend that is LEW BEAR. Plus wordsmiths KATE ARBUCKLE ʚϊɞ RIK KNIGHT and JOHN RIVERS.

As you can imagine, there's a lot to cram in, and we'll be aiming to start as soon as the doors open.  So if you want to find out why men from Dover are called Dover Sharks you might want to be there for 8pm :)

We'll be open at 8pm, and all of this is yours in exchange for a single £5 note

Saturday morning sees the start of IMAGINING SCIENCE: The Symbiosis Project

Imagining Science are a small group of scientists who are artists, and artists with and interest in science. With the help of the University of Reading Arts Committee, this project looks at the relationships and collaboration in science and art, using lichen (a symbiosis between fungi and algae) as a starting point.

Along the way the project has travelled across continents, and worked with scientists from the University of Reading's Herbarium, and Electron Microscopy lab.

Come along and draw with us, find out more about how art and science work together, how lichen can form amazing patterns, and how you can take part in a national science project by using lichen to monitor what's in the air around you! Artworks include a giant handmade book, 8000 miles in the making!

We'll be open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday, and admission is absolutely free

Imagining Science is open on the following days through the week...

Monday  2pm-5pm: Family drawing day & exhibition.

Bandorama reaches it's rip-roaring March instalment and it looks a bit like this

UNITE
There was once a band called Peers, who started in 2010 and within six months they were playing Reading Festival. They were managed by the same guy that used to manage Ting Tings; Ash and now Alt-J.  They were championed by Radio 1, NME,BBC Introducing et al. They were great.

... Then their drummer left to go solo.

However, they've returned, Peers are now back and they are called Unite with a new drummer.

What do you mean you're staying in?

CAPTIVES
They smoke fags and drink whiskey, They're the Spacemen 3 for the Royal County (ask your Mum). Dig.The.Fuzz.They wear shades and leather trousers. Yowsa!

PEACH FUZZ
Art school punks from the epicentre of RG1. Like a splat attack of the senses. They are vital..Punk art rock.A proper shaven soul band.

(Please note that this gig is for ages 16 and over)

Finally on Sunday, it’s time for MILONGA SIMPATICA

Another helping of our small, relaxed milonga affording tango dancers the chance to come together and enjoy an afternoon of social dancing. Tea and homemade cakes are provided and a friendly atmosphere where you can spend a pleasant few hours dancing. Could there be a nicer way to wind down the weekend?
