Tricks, treats and more this Hallowe'en

Damien's picture

Hallowe’en kicks off a week early then keeps the spirit going here at the Rising Sun.

It all starts this Saturday, with a welcome return to the centre by the Scarlet Vixens. Their new “Trick or Treat!” show brings our favourite burlesque beauties back, just in time for their favourite time of year, to spoil you with some terrifying tricks and tantalising treats to get you into the spooky spirit.

Then, we have a triple-bill of terror!!!! on Hallowe’en weekend itself. On Friday 28, it’s Club Velocity’s Hallowe’en gig – spooooookky! The centre will be suitably decorated and hopefully the bands – Draw The Shades, Sahara Dam and Pack Of Thieves – will be too!

Saturday 29 brings a special Fiesta Latina, this time with added swing, rock n’ roll, costumes and cobwebs, with dance classes kicking the evening off, and the party just getting wilder as we dance till the witching hour!

Then, to close things off is the Stand-Up Cinema Hallowe’en Cinethon – a genuine trick for lovers of scary movies. There’s the comically great Little Shop of Horrors (the musical), the comically bad Plan 9 From Outer Space (by legendary director Ed Wood) and the frighteningly fierce Night of The Living Dead (George A. Romero’s original zombie masterpiece). There’ll be quizzing, the café will be open and a prize for the best costume, too!
