More artists and activities announced for Here Comes The Sun Festival 2022

Here Comes The Sun – the Rising Sun Arts Centre’s all-day festival of music and arts – is just one calendar month away. On Saturday 6th August, we’ll be throwing open the doors of the centre to bring you all manner of wonderful performances, activities and installations from 2pm till 11pm.

Here Comes The Sun has always been a wonderful showcase for the creative communities and groups that call the centre home, and this year is no exception. The 2022 line-up will include quickfire poetry from the Dreading Poetry Slam poets and a Rising Sun Drag Showcase led by the centre’s own Big Jay. The Zap! Comedy Team – for people with learning disabilities – will be back for another hilarious comedy sketch, and Zap! alumnus Cameron Chung will also sing a few songs. Plus, the centre’s Visual Arts Team will present a unique installation in the renamed-for-2022 Sky Studio.

But it’s not only our in-house entertainers who’ll be performing for you – we’ve got some more fantastic names to share who’ll all be performing on the Tree Stage. There’ll be “intricate melodies and complex chord structures” from folk artist Jamie Larbalestier, soulful vocals from a returning Jen Berkova and a special stripped-back acoustic set from the atmospheric Phantom Booth.

The Here Comes The Sun team – all volunteers at the centre – are also planning a number of sun-themed arts and craft activities for children, so there’ll truly be something for all the family to enjoy at this year’s festival. And there may well be a surprise or two to be announced in the coming weeks, too!

Entry is £10 in advance from WeGotTickets, or £15 on the door. Free entry for children 14 and younger. Numbers will be limited this year with 20% of tickets already sold, so we recommend booking in advance to avoid missing out.

Join us once again for the hottest house party of the summer!
