Meet this year's Are You Listening? acts

This Saturday, we once again join a half-dozen other Reading venues and take part in the Are You Listening? Festival, raising money for Reading Mencap.

This year’s festival promises to be another heady mix of local acts and those with growing national acclaim. But which ones can you see on our stage? We take a look at the names performing at the centre this year…

16:45 - BUG PRENTICE

This Oxford/London three-piece kicks things off with a set that covers such diverse subjects as classic cinema, obscure trivia, and obscure classic cinema trivia.

17:30 - KT KING

She writes from the heart and cares for her art, with a style that’s poetic, minimalistic and slightly haunted.

18:30 - WANDERING WIRES

A fantastic fusion of jazz, soul, Brazilian and electronic music from these staples of the Oxford music scene. They’ve played at Truck, now they’re playing for us.

19:30 - HARROLAND

This indie four-piece are no strangers to the centre, having played for many Club Velocity audiences in the last few months. They were on BBC Berkshire this weekend to talk about the festival and everything

20:30 - JEN BERKOVA

Born in Paris, to Russian and Congolese parents and raised in Oxford… and now playing in Reading! Expect heartfelt lyrics on a bed of soul and R&B tunes.

21:30 - DAMIEN A PASSMORE & THE LOVEABLE FRAUDSTERS

They’ve been playing their unique brand of tongue-in-cheek country rock here, there and everywhere for over a decade. A new line-up debuts for the festival. And they were on BBC Berkshire, too.

22:30 - PEERLESS PIRATES

If you’ve forgotten the time when indie sounded fun, here’s your chance to get re-acquainted. And it’ll be soaked in a barrel of rum for good measure!
