We’re humbled and honoured to be nominated in two categories at the inaugural Reading Cultural Awards.
Created to keep the successes and creative juices of the 2016 Year of Culture flowing, the Reading Cultural Awards have been set up to celebrate the best artistic and cultural events, organisations and artists in Reading and the important role that arts and culture play in making Reading a great place to live, work and do business.
Nominations were open to the public, which makes our shortlisting feel even more welcome here at the centre. We’ve been nominated in the following categories:
Cultural Space of the Year - Dedicated arts venues, unusual spaces used for art – this award recognises the diversity of great places to enjoy and perform art and cultural activities in Reading
Performance of the Year - Music, theatre, dance, this performance will have caused ripples in Reading and been widely acclaimed – for the Flint Giant Parade (part of the Landscape of Charms and Machines project)
We’re up against some very worthy competition in both categories, and we’ll find out if we’ve won anything at the awards ceremony on 29th June. But, in a way, the people of Reading are the real winners with such a great range of arts and culture being created by artists and organisations all over Reading – and that’s what we’re really celebrating.
