We had a wonderful time last week attending the Reading Volunteer Awards. The evening was a resounding success and saw our team of volunteers – and several individuals – walk away with a number of awards.
Organised by Reading Voluntary Action to coincide with Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), the awards acknowledge and highlight the extraordinary contribution that volunteers and volunteering make to life in our town, celebrating those in our community who volunteer their time, talents and skills.
As a team, our volunteers took home the Team Recognition Award, which is a sterling reflection of the hard work have put in by all our volunteers over the past 12 months.
Individually, Julie, Zac and Sarah each received a Certificate of Appreciation – something made all the more pleasing based on the fact they were nominated by their fellow volunteers for this.
And last – but by no means least – Ifty was the very deserving recipient of the “Can’t Do Without” award – and if you’ve ever met or worked with him, you’ll know there was no other possible winner!
We’re proud and humbled by this recognition, and would like to send out our congratulations to all the other worthy winners on the night. It truly is a fantastic event and it feels great to be part of such a strong voluntary community here in Reading.
