10 years of Tribute Night

Join us this Friday to celebrate a decade of Reading’s most popular evening of creative and crazy covers with the Tribute Night 10th Birthday Party.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since AF Harrold kicked off a “series of nights where local acts come together and sing the songs of another act we really need to get a shorter name for these” by paying tribute to his musical muse Leonard Cohen. Since then, we’ve seen some of the biggest names in music covered, from Abba to Zappa. There’s been the obvious acts (The Beatles, The Stones, Bowie (twice), Bob Dylan), the less-obvious-but-no-less-deserving (Beck, Bjork, XTC) and the quirkier evenings, too (One Hit Wonders, Eurovision).

And this Friday, you can re-live all of them. Almost. We’ll be looking back at all the previous nights with a programme of Greatest Hits and Misses. So you can expect to see reprises of songs played before at Tribute Night, including some performers invited back for the evening, as well as acts performing songs from nights they weren’t able to attend.

It’s gonna be hot, it’s gonna be busy and, above all, it’s gonna be fun. So join us – and here’s to another 10 years – after all, there’s still plenty more musical greats to pay tribute to…
