All aboard the Trib Train! Let’s continue our wiggly journey through the popscape to our next destination…
Spice Girls were a clever pop phenomenon, deploying the 90s dance-pop sound of the day as a launch pad while subverting Britpop lad culture into a fiercely independent feminist manifesto inspired as by Madonna and the riot grrrl rock scene. With bags more colour, personality and humour than their boy band contemporaries, Spice Girls appealed to younger listeners and older music fans alike and dominated the pop charts for a brief but fun few years. I saw them at Wembley Arena in 1998!
At this event, expect to hear a variety of folks playing a variety of Spice Girls songs including post-Spice solo material, in a variety of ways, some faithfully, some surprisingly, some ill-advisedly...
If you want to be involved and play a song or two, email Zac at
tributenight@hotmail.co.uk. You can bagsy a slot first if you haven’t decided on a song.
If you are a musician/singer and you want to be involved, but you don’t know other people to play or sing with, let me know and we’ll have a go at matching you up with others.
If you have or want to make an audio/video recording of yourself performing a Spice Girls song, or indeed any song relevant to a previous
