Dreading Slam is a friendly, open mic poetry competition. We welcome poets of all standards, as well as any audience who want the chance to appreciate live poetry. The reason for having a competition is to encourage the poets to perform work that connects with the audience.
Each poet reads two of their own poems (limited to 3 minutes each), which are scored out of ten by three members of the audience who have volunteered to be judges. The top three poets qualify for a final to find the best poet in Berkshire (for few weeks).
There is the chance to read outside the competition, although the 3 minute limit still applies.
We have also introduced a quick-fire fun competition for each month.
Dreading Slam meets on the first Sunday of each month at 7.30pm.
