30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST

Tribute Night: Motown

Price:
Free admissions - donations during interval - suggested £5 each (card or cash) (as long as the card reader is working) (and as long as I can find a hat)

“Calling out around the world – are you ready for a brand new beat?”

Winter’s here and the time is right for dancing in Silver Street!

The new beat in question is the Motown Sound, blasting through the airwaves across the US. Founded as Tamla Records by innovative record producer Berry Gordy in 1959 with $800 and a dream, the Motown family of record labels produced some of the most culturally defining music of the 20th century. Artists such as Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Isley Brothers, and The Commodores are synonymous with Motown and the “Sound of young America” throughout the 1960s and beyond.

Any original material that was released on the Motown family of labels is up for grabs, as long as somebody else hasn’t beaten you to it!

We are currently at capacity for acts performing songs on the night, but if you would like to be on the waiting list, then email Zac at tributenight@hotmail.co.uk and I will let you know if space becomes available nearer the night.

If you are a musician and you want to be involved, but you don’t know other people to play or sing with, send me an email and I’ll have a go at matching you up with others.

As usual, there is no admission fee, but donations will be collected during the interval - cash or card - suggested donation £5.
All donations go to the Rising Sun Arts Centre, which is a registered charity funded mostly by its own earned income.
