This Weekend's Events (6th to 8th October)

Hi Everybody

Some of you may have noticed that another series of The Apprentice has been unleashed onto a nation’s TV screens.  And, I never thought I’d ever say this, but my heart goes out to poor old Alan Sugar.  Why?  I hear you ask.  Well, as much as I think it’s one of the funniest mockumentaries ever devised, you have to wonder whether the show might actually be real and the people who’ve turned up for the top prize/exclusive job really are a bunch of wallies.

It really is a rum do all round, in other news, there’s one or two things happening at the Rising Sun this very weekend!

On Friday, we have something special from PALM HONEY

Palm Honey present to you a one-off improvised, interactive show.  Audience members are invited to perform alongside Palm Honey in an exploratory psychedelic jam session - no previous musical experience necessary.

We’ll be open from 7.30pm and there’s a few remaining tickets still available on DICE so please do act quick: http://smarturl.it/fovgnp

On Saturday, Reading International and the Rising Sun present ABEL AUER

Reading International is pleased to present a new project by Stuttgart-based artist Abel Auer titled ‘How a Black Void Replaces the White Cube and a Painting Moves from the Fine to the Performing Arts’.

The exhibition connects musical influences to an installation based on a cinematic representation of the medium with an ambient soundtrack.  Abel Auer was born in Munich in 1974. His work has been described as blurring the boundary between abstraction and  curation, between reality and hallucination, seriousness and the grotesque.

This project has been curated by Andrew Hunt and Saim Demircan. It will open between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday 7th October as part of a full day of events in Reading organised by Reading International. The exhibition will remain at The Rising Sun until November 11th.

That’s everything for another week, just to remind you that we are, as always, at 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST (If you pop it into your satnav or Google, we shall magically appear!)
