The mighty Tongues of Fire return to the Rising Sun. The band are a riot of reeds and brass making a ‘joyful noise’ for dreaming, dancing and celebration.

The band draws on traditions of New Orleans’s street music, circus and village bands, the sounds of church and chapel, the free jazz marches of Albert Ayler and the cosmic carnival of Sun Ra. The band also play new music by bandleader Tim Hill, The result is a rich, wild and unique sound.

"Wicked big band jazz from the excellent Nanny Tango label. A seven piece brass band dropping dance floor devastating marching tunes and each single comes with an illustrated 8 page manifesto of the band." Fatcity Records.

Tongues of Fire was founded by saxophonist and composer Tim Hill in 2004, and features musicians drawn from the worlds of free jazz, brass bands, contemporary classical, theatre and samba. The band was created to play both in the street and concert hall and to make music that can be both adventurous and accessible.
