The music is inspired by the landscapes, people and worlds of Reading Town, including the evocative paintings, prints and writings of artist Pete Hay, the Kennet Mouth where the two rivers meet, the traffic roars and wildlife cries of Cemetery Junction, flint ruins, gasworks songs and the wild curate of St Lawrence’s church, John Pordage, accused of bringing the new Jerusalem down into his kitchen and hiding political rebels after the Civil war.
The suite ‘A Landscape of Charms and Machines’ was commissioned by The Rising Sun Arts centre and written by Tim Hill. This is an unmissable opportunity to hear an amazing piece of music played by an incredible collection of musicians.
