Club Velocity presents Candid Heist / Dr Satso / Slater

£5 advance

Re-scheduled from 18 April 2020

Candid Heist
Seem to come from nowhere. Another tip top new local band that are trying to do this thing we call indie pop – a little different. Hard to pin down their influences, especially as they are young chaps. To my ears a delightful mix of Material Issue (ask yr granny), early REM, Matthew Sweet (ask your granny again) but a huge slab of British left-leaning guitar greatness say some one like the Pale Saints or the Jazz Butcher. Claws is easily the best pop song you will hear this year and next. Candid Heist could be your fave new band. Fact.

Dr Satso
The Keep Cats told us about the Dr. We take what the Cats say very seriously. Dr Satso deal in hide behind the sofa sexy grooves for a hot sunny day. Open those curtains. It is a delightful world out there. This is space age groove greatness for the masses.

Round here we get a lot of emails. Most of them are totally pointless. However, SLATER stood out from the pile of nonsense. As their first song I Don’t Mind has a certain boogie of Slade. Slade are one of the most underrated bands of all time. Fact. They sound like they like a drink. Def no SXE kids here. Plus elements of great power pop masters such as Material Issue and Matthew Sweet – yes, those two again. Been listening to them a lot recently and so should you too.
